Police in a conservative west-Texas city are keeping an eye on a young entrepreneur's recently opened cleaning service that offers topless and nude maids.
Lubbock police Sgt. Jonathan Stewart said Melissa Borrett, 26, the owner of Fantasy Maid Service of Lubbock, doesn't have a permit to operate a sexually oriented business, according to the Associated Press. Officers are watching for any violation, which would mean a $2,000 fine.
Borrett started the special maid service in February, reported the Huffington Post, and now has three other women working for her. Company policy prohibits employees and customers from engaging in any physical or sexual contact, and Borrett insists she's not running a sexually oriented business. The company will also not work topless or nude in the presence of anyone under 18.
"If a maid accepts tips for physical contact, she will be terminated immediately and the customer will not be able to schedule service with Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service again," according to the company's website. The site also advertises its discount for "law enforcement and other public servants (heros), including, but not limited to, paramedics, fire fighters and military (active and vets)."
Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service charges $100 for an hour of one maid's services, or $150 for two. The company's website also advertises its services for parties. The maids will take care of get-togethers by "serving guests, cleaning, mixing drinks, and taking care of any other task you may have."
Borrett, the mother of a three-year-old daughter, said she started her business because she was struggling to make ends meet as a waitress, reported Good Morning America.
"We clean, we cook, we iron, do laundry, pretty much any kind of household chores… it's all maid's work," she said. "I'm thinking Alice from 'The Brady Bunch.'"
