No one murdered in New York City on Monday

No one was murdered in New York City on Monday. You call this news? Sadly, yes.

The New York City Police Department says that not a single murder, shooting, stabbing or slashing was reported in the five boroughs on Monday, NY1 reported. Police don't remember the last time an event like this happened. But statistics show that New York has changed drastically since 1990, when there was an average of six murders a day and 2,200 a year.

Now, New York City is on pace to just see 400 murders this year, the New York Daily News reported.

The heartwarming, murder-free streak started at 10:25 pm Sunday, the Daily News reported. By 11 am the next Tuesday, there were still no murders. The peace lasted all the way until 11:20 am, when a 27-year-old man was shot in Brooklyn. Merry Christmas.
