Attorney Gloria Allred speaks at a news conference on December 13, 2011 in New York City.
Lauren Odes claims she was fired from her job at a Manhattan lingerie distributor for being too sexy, according to the New York Daily News.
Shortly after she was hired, a supervisor at work told Odes the Orthodox Jewish owners had complained.
“When I was first told that I was too hot and that my breasts were too large, I was shocked,” Odes told the Daily News. “I thought that I was dressed appropriately every day for my job as a production assistant.”
“She was simply fired for being attractive and for not conforming to the religious strictures imposed by top management,” said her lawyer Gloria Allred.
Reuters reported Allred filed a gender and religious discrimination complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York.
Odes said she felt her wardrobe was appropriate given the company sells "thongs with hearts placed in the female genital area and boy shorts for women that say 'hot' in the buttocks area," according to Reuters.
Odes said she was given a choice to either buy a sweater that covered her to her ankles or wear a bright red bathrobe her supervisor pulled off the rack.
She wore the robe, but when her co-workers laughed, she went shopping for a new outfit. She was fired during that shopping trip.
