Actress and singer Natina Reed died late Friday after a car hit her as she tried walking across a busy road near Atlanta, police said.

Reed, who would have turned 33 today, was a member of the group Blaque and starred in the 2000 cheerleading movie "Bring it On."

A car hit her about 10:30 p.m. on Friday in Lilburn, Georgia, Reuters said.

Police don't expect to charge the driver, who called 911 and remained at the scene after the crash.

A passenger in the car tried CPR, but Reed died later in hospital.

Police are unsure why Reed was walking across the road.

Blaque, with Shamari Fears DeVoe and Brandi Williams, had hits such as "Bring It All to Me" and "808" in the late 1990s.

They issued a statement Saturday that said "we are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend," BET reported.

They had planned to reunite for a new album and TV series.
