A Texas nanny has faced court after she was caught on a hidden camera smothering a baby girl and carrying her around by the head.
Tirza Magana, 48, had been working for a local couple since January, Khou.com reported.
In late May, the parents became concerned when their daughter began to act strange and appeared lethargic.
They decided to install a hidden camera in their home to observe what was happening when they were not around. The footage was disturbing and the parents immediately called police.
The Daily Mail reported court documents allege the camera captured Magana carrying the baby around by the head, throwing her into the crib like a rag doll, and smothering the child by covering her nose and mouth and "applying pressure".
"She places both hands over the complainant's nose and mouth and applies force… causing the baby to flail about, struggling to breathe," documents stated.
Magana was charged with endangering a child, a felony, and released on $10,000 bond.
According to investigators, Magana admitted that she smothered the baby multiple times a day for a month and even realized that her actions could have caused the baby’s death.
