This was not the way to prove he was harmless.

After setting off an explosives wand at Portland International Airport yesterday, the frequent flying businessman John Brennan decided he would see to it that there could be absolutely no doubt that he was definitely not carrying a bomb strapped to his body.

So he stripped naked in the middle of the airport, according to the local television station KTVZ.

Passengers and other families gawked and snapped photos as Brennan stood stark naked at a security station administered by the Transportation Security Administration, the TV station said. Local CNN affiliate KPTV produced this report:

KPTV reports today that Brennan said he was told he had tested positive for nitrates. He says he took off his clothes and announced: “I don’t have a bomb on me.”

The station quoted a police report that said: "While some passengers covered their eyes and their children's eyes and moved away from the screening area, others stepped out of the screening lanes to look, laugh and take photos of Mr. Brennan."

"The takeaway I want is for Americans to have their liberties while balancing the need for safety," Brennan was quoted as saying.
