A woman with a child in the backseat crashed through an airport gate and drove onto the runway at Phoenix's major airport.

The incident happened about 10 p.m. last night, Thursday, and was immediately witnessed by police.

AP reported officers forced the woman to stop as she was crossing the runway of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said.

No one was injured, and no flights were endangered, according to a police statement.

Crump would not give further details but said the woman "may have been impaired". She was being questioned by police, and there were no details on whether charges had been laid.

Airport operations were stopped for about 15 minutes.

In March at Philadelphia Airport, a man drove a jeep onto the runway and crashed it through a gate, the Daily Mail reported.

The airport was forced to shutdown for 35 minutes due to the incident. The man was charged with disrupting and endangering airport safety.
