Cast members of “Modern Family” found themselves trapped in a crowded elevator for an hour on their way to a fundraiser event in Kansas City.
In a mishap that sounded like an episode of the comedy show, actors Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were among 15 people who became stuck in an elevator on the third floor of the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center Friday night, ABC News reported.
While they waited for rescue workers from the Kansas City Fire Department, the three stars tweeted about their ordeal.
“This is us right now. 45 minutes stuck in this elevator,” Jesse Tyler Ferguson tweeted, including a photo for his followers.
And 15 minutes later, Ferguson tweeted: "Finally made it out of the stuck elevator at the one hour mark. At least the firemen in K.C. are cute."
The actors eventually took to the stage for the fundraising event in Stonestreet's hometown.
The event, Kids Night Out 2013, was to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, reported the Kansas City Star.
Guests at the fundraiser speculated the elevator incident could provide fodder for a future episode of the hit show.
As Stonestreet left the stage, he warned the crowd: “Have a great night and don’t use the elevators!”
