Mobile phone plugged into shaving socket forces emergency landing in Dublin

An emergency landing at Dublin Airport today offers a lesson for all flyers: never plug your mobile phone into a shaving socket.

The Irish Times said a mobile phone plugged into a lavatory shaving socket caused a Delta Flight 73 headed from Istanbul to New York City to make an emergency landing in Ireland's capital around 4 p.m. local time.

The suspect device, as MSNBC called it, caused a panic in the cabin that triggered the pilot to ask permission to land.

When officials boarded the plane to investigate, they found a mobile phone was plugged in to the wall with its cable wrapped around it, Irish Times said.
