A scissors-wielding man tried to break into Miley Cyrus' Los Angeles home early this morning but was arrested before he could get in, the Associated Press said, citing local police officials.

The man claimed to be a friend of the popular singer-actress, said AP. Why the scissors? As of yet, unclear. Anyway, she wasn't even home at the time. You'd think a "friend" would know another "friend"'s whereabouts, wouldn't you?

Even (or especially) if it was 4 a.m., which is when the trespassing incident took place, according to E! Online, going on to explain that the man thought himself not just a friend of the former Hana Montana star — but indeed her husband.

What the what? "He thinks they were married," Lieutenant Brian Wendling of the Los Angeles Police Department said. "And I would say delusional is a good characterization of him."

So it would seem. "According to a local news channel the 40-year-old had been sitting in the garden lighting candles and ignoring requests to leave," said The Daily Mail

Charges have not been filed yet, said AP
