Michael Jackson: 3rd anniversary of the King of Pop’s death (PHOTOS)

Today marks the third anniversary of Michael Jackson's death of an overdose of the painkiller propofol, and family and artists have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the King of Pop.

Jackson's daughter Paris sent a message from her account on the microblogging website, saying: "RIP Michael Jackson .. Dad you will forever be in my heart <3 i love you."

Sister LaToya Jackson also remembered her brother on Twitter, sending out two tweets today. The first said: "3 years ago today it saddens me to know we lost a legendary artist. Greed & only Greed was the cause of his death. Michael We LoveYou! #CNN."

She sent out the second tweet a few hours later, saying: "SadMorning All. This Day was the day that lead to the demise of my little brother.'Michael We Love' May you RIP. Gone FAR To Soon."

Paris also retweeted a message sent to her earlier in the day that read: "Dear @ParisJackson, 'The ones that love us never really leave us. You can always find them in here.' *heart* Love, @UndeadDobbyy and I."

Artists like Justin BieberUsher, Wiz Khalifa, Ludacris, Ghostface Killah, among many others in the world of music also sent out messages via Twitter.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jackson died June 25, 2009, in LA of a propofol overdose. His death prompted an investigation that lasted years into the circumstances of his death and the fate of his estate. Since then, his personal doctor, Conrad Murray, has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the case.
