Madonna upsets Colorado community by using gun on stage

Madonna has been accused of being insensitive to the Colorado community after she brandished a run onstage at a Denver concert.

The stunt, which is part of her world "MDNA" tour, outraged many fans who three months ago were left shocked by a massacre at a local theater, The Independent reported.

In July, twelve people were killed when a gunman opened fire during a midnight screening of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.

KUSA-TV said it received several calls from concert-goers who were upset and offended the singer had used guns and violence in her show.

According to the Associated Press, several fans walked out after the stunt, which occurred in the second act of her show during a performance to the song "Gang Bang".

Mail Online reported it featured the singer brandishing a gun on a masked gunman, as well as images of blood splattering on a large screen behind her.

Mile High Sports Radio Denver personality Peter Burns said: "You could see people kinda looking at each other.

"You could hear people talking about it and it was little bit unsettling. I saw two or three people get up and grab their stuff and actually leave their seats."

Burns, whose friend Jessica Ghawi, 24, was among those killed in the Aurora shooting, said he was shocked and upset.

But Madonna's press agent, LIz Rosenberg, was not apologetic, telling AP it was not possible to eliminate the scene, which had been a core part of the show since her tour began.

"It's like taking out the third act of Hamlet,"she said.

"Madonna does not make things pretty and tie them up with a bow," she added.
