Katie Holmes’ Broadway show ‘Dead Accounts’ tanks, will close early

Actress Katie Holmes' new Broadway play will close seven weeks ahead of schedule on January 6.

As the New York Post wrote "'Dead Accounts' is dead in the water."

The show opened just last month and will fold after only 44 regular performances, the Post wrote.

"I am extremely proud of this production and the cast… we are all sad to see ‘Dead Accounts’ end on Broadway,” producer Jeffrey Finn told Broadwayworld. “I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon."

Holmes recently went through a high-profile split from actor Tom Cruise now lives with her daughter Suri Cruise in New York.

Reuters reported the actress plays Lorna, a woman living with her parents but the show got negative reviews and is closing after lackluster ticket sales at the box office.

The play, is the brainchild of television hit “Smash” creator Theresa Rebeck.
