Julian Assange: UK police arrest plan revealed accidentally

Plans for Julian Assange's arrest by British police were accidentally revealed when an officer was photographed holding them outside London's Ecuador embassy.

The document outlined the police's plans to arrest WikiLeaks founder Assange “under all circumstances,” whether he exits the embassy in a vehicle, under diplomatic immunity, or in a diplomatic bag, the UK Press Association reported.

UK police have made clear on previous occasions that if Assange leaves the Ecuadorian embassy, where he is currently being protected, that they plan to arrest him, CNN reported.

The British government has also said that they could enter the embassy under a 1987 Act and forcefully arrest the 41-year-old, the Guardian reported. However, foreign secretary William Hague said that they had no intention of "storming" the building, where Assange has been taking refuge for two months. 

"The document is one officer's notes from a briefing," a Scotland Yard spokesman told the Guardian. "Our objective is to arrest Julian Assange for breach of bail. Under no circumstances would any arrest be made which was in breach of diplomatic immunity."

Assange is wanted for questioning in Sweden over sexual assault claims against him, according to UKPA. He has not traveled to Scandinavia for fear that he will be extradited to the United States over WikiLeaks.

The Australian was granted political asylum by Ecuador last week.
