Golden Globe nominations led by ‘Lincoln,’ ‘Django Unchained’

The Golden Globe nominations have a decided front-runner in "Lincoln," Steven Spielberg's epic historic biography of the 16th president of the United States.
The film grabbed seven nods from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Thursday, trailed by Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," which took five nods.
The Globes, which air on Jan. 13 and will be co-hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, also awarded best drama nominations to Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty," the Los Angeles Times reported.
Best comedy/musical saw a surprise nominee in “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen," a romantic comedy acquired by CBS films at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011, according to the LA Times. It was joined by “Les Misérables,” Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and surprise awards favorite “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."
"Boardwalk Empire," "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," last year's winner "Homeland," and newcomer "The Newsroom" all got nominated for best TV drama series.
As for Best Foreign Language Film, "Amour," "The Intouchables," "Kon-Tiki," "A Royal Affair," and "Rust & Bone" all got nods from the HFPA.
But it wouldn't be a Golden Globes nomination release without a good dose of outrage about which films and TV shows didn't get nods.
Among the biggest outrage-inducers, according to Entertainment Weekly: "Mad Men," which lost out to "Homeland" last year and was virtually ignored this time around; "Game of Thrones" and one of its stars Peter Dinklage, a fan favorite; and "American Horror Story." Not to mention a bunch of great comedies, like "Parks and Recreation."
