George Zimmerman jailhouse calls released: “Buy a bulletproof vest”

George Zimmerman told his wife to buy bulletproof vests for them and his attorney after reports of threats against the Trayvon Martin shooting suspect, jailhouse calls released Monday show.

"As uncomfortable as it is, I want you wearing one," Zimmerman told his wife, according to The Associated Press.

The six audio recordings released by prosecutors also detail how Zimmerman instructed his wife to move around money and could play a crucial role in his new bond hearing June 29, Orlando TV station WKMG reported.

Zimmerman faces second-degree murder charges over the killing of an unarmed Martin in a Sanford, Fla., gated community in February. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.

Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bond in April, several days after the phone calls took place, after his wife told the court they had limited funds because she was in school full time and Zimmerman wasn't working, the USA Today reported.

Shellie Zimmerman also testified that she didn't know how much money had been raised from a website created for her husband's legal defense.

Zimmerman's bond has since been revoked, and his wife now faces a charge of lying to the court.

The couple's bank statements were also expected to be released later Monday, special prosecutor Angela Corey told the Orlando Sentinel.

In a blog posting, Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara wrote that he planned to file a motion Monday asking the judge to prohibit the release of any Zimmerman jail phone call that are not related to the defendant's bond.
