Newt Gingrich — whose quixotic campaign has lumbered on like a zombie since he won his home state of Georgia early last month — this week said Fox News was partly to blame for his failures.

The station had decided to support front-runner Mitt Romney to the detriment of Newt 2012, Gingrich told Tea Party leaders in Delaware on Wednesday.

Ailes suggested yesterday that this meant Gingrich was hoping to become a CNN contributor.

Newt was sore, Ailes said, and was "trying to get a job at CNN because he knows he isn’t going to get to come back to Fox News.”

Gingrich was dropped last year by Fox after announcing that he would run for president, according to Yahoo! News.

“[H]e's still bitter about the fact that we terminated his contributor contract,” a Fox spokeswoman was quoted as saying.
