Florence + the Machine cancel shows after singer loses voice
Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine lost her voice, forcing the British band to cancel two European performances.
Florence Welch, the dynamic vocalist of Florence + the Machine, had to cancel performances at two European festivals after losing her voice, the BBC reported.
The singer announced via Twitter that she had been ordered by doctors to rest her voice after she felt something "snap," the BBC said.
The shows that the British band pulled out of included the Benicassim Festival in Spain on Thursday and the Optimus Alive fest in Portugal on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.

A note on the band's website from Welch said, "I've sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week.. seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening."
After receiving messages from fans and well wishers, Welch tweeted:
CBS News noted that fellow British songstress Adele was also forced to cancel a series of performances last year when she had issues with her vocal chords.
