First day of Spring: Time for exposed skin and Google Doodles

GlobalPost

Office workers are hitting the parks during lunchtime. Joggers are running outside. Exposed skin is, well, everywhere. Yes, spring has arrived. Today, March 20, marks the official first day of spring.

March 20 is also the Northern Hemisphere's vernal equinox. It's the day when all things are equal — daytime hours equal nighttime hours.

To celebrate the day, Google has a Doodle. Check it out below.

Google got its inspiration from a Finnish firm, reported the Washington Post.

Team Google Doodle tells Comic Riffs that for each special logo, its illustrators marry technique with topic — the style is summoned from the substance. And so it is today, Google reportedly draws from Marimekko, the half-century-old Finnish firm whose designs include brilliant blue flora and whimsically tinted fauna.

Meanwhile, the Huffington Post has a slideshow of Google's best Doodles ever.

And ABC News has a list of where you can find free stuff today.
