Female executive, Natalie Egleston, killed while skiing in Aspen

A marketing executive from the US was killed in a freak accident while on a skiing holiday in Aspen. 

Natalie Egleston, 48, from Pennsylvania, had appaarently stopped to clean her goggles when she was hit by another skier, a woman from New York, on Monday, the Aspen Daily News reported.

Egleston was knocked unconscious and despite first aid at the scene, she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Medics said she suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Pitkin County Sheriff Patrol Director Jeff Lumsden said the New York woman suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both skiers were wearing helmets, and the coroner’s office said the cause was accidental.

An investigation is under way to determine the speeds of the skiers, police said.

The Daily Mail reported Egleston was a graduate of the prestigious Cornell University and served as president of Indoor Direct, a marketing company that produces entertainment for restaurants.

Her brother, Brian, told the blog Denver Westword his sister recently returned to the Philadelphia area after living on the West Coast for several years.

Egleston’s death is the third fatality on Aspen's ski slopes this winter. Four days earlier, champion X Games snowmobiler Caleb Moore died from a fatal injury which he suffered when his machine flipped over on top of him.
