Egypt Olympic wrestlers show up late, miss their own match, serious #olympicfail

Two Egyptian wrestlers showed up late to the ring at the London Games today, losing by default, reported the Middle East News Agency (MENA)

The Egypt team apparently failed to note that today's matches began early in the morning to accommodate the games' closing ceremony schedule instead of being held at 1 pm as they had all week, said MENA

Once the wrestlers had realized what had happened — the events had already begun — Abdou Omar Abdou Ahmed and Saleh Emera reportedly panicked, understandably, witnessed begging a bus driver at the Olympic Village to take them to the stadium, according to BBC News

They finally got there at 9 am, a breathless Abdou arriving 30 minutes into the 66 kg first-round match and Saleh Emera his 96 kg match today, according to YahooSports!.

Too late. They'd already been disqualified. Serious #olympicfail for the Egypt team, which is said to be "investigating the matter," reported BBC

Although Ahmed and Emera weren't tipped for gold, according to Yahoo, it's tragic the wrestlers didn't even get a fighting chance.
