John Vazquez, 34, a janitor at PS 160 in Co-op City, stopped first-grader Raddy Larry from being kidnapped in front of the elementary school on Friday.

"You could see he had bad intentions, especially in his eyes — his eyes were bulging out of his head," said Vazquez of the man who tried to grab the child, according to the New York Post.

The Post also reported that Vazquez, who has been working at the school for four years and is the father of a nine-year-old boy, said Raddy always gets to school early and arrived at 7 a.m. that day, nearly an hour before the doors open. The boy likes to follow Vazquez around in the morning, asking him what he's working on. It was during that time that Vazquez turned around to see a man next to the boy, grabbing his hand.

Vazquez asked Raddy if he knew the man, said NBC New York. The man said he was the child's uncle, but the boy said he didn't know the man.

"So I grabbed the child by his hand and I walked him straight to security," Vazquez told NBC. The man, who cursed at the janitor during the altercation, walked away.

The suspect had previously been seen lurking around the school by teachers. Fox News reported that police have released a sketch of the would-be kidnapper. He is described as black, in his 50s, about 6-foot-2, with a salt-and-pepper beard. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, camouflage pants and black boots.
