Britain’s Queen Elizabeth hospitalized for stomach ailment

GlobalPost

Britain's Queen Elizabeth went into the hospital on Sunday to be treated for a stomach illness, according to Buckingham Palace officials cited by ABC

The 86-year-old royal was taken ill with stomach symptoms on Friday, palace officials told Reuters, and has canceled all plans for the coming week, cancelling or at least postponing a planned trip to Italy.

She is said to be feeling fine and will stay in the hospital just for a couple of days at London's King Edward VII hospital so doctors can test her for possible gastroenteritis, a stomach illness The Daily Beast said is "currently rampant in the UK."

Queen Elizabeth hasn't had extensive hospitalization since having knee surgery 10 years ago, according to ABC.

The elderly monarch celebrated her 60th year on the throne last year.
