Dark Knight Rises” star Christian Bale arrived in Aurora Colorado today to visit victims injured during Friday’s shooting at a midnight screening of the Batman movie, Warner Brothers officials confirmed.
ABC News reported that the Batman actor was seen at a local hospital, and hospital personnel were overheard saying he was talking to patients.
"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications, told The Denver Post.
The seemingly low-key visit follows a social media campaign which petitioned the actor to visit Aurora.
A young woman, Emily Sanchez, posted a request on Facebook that went viral, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
"I propose we should make enough noise asking Christian Bale to visit these kids in the hospital dressed in the real Batman outfit. They need to know Heroes can be real too, not just the bad guys," Sanchez wrote.
Bale released a statement last week regarding the massacre, saying “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
