Argentina’s most wanted criminals
Interpol issued an arrest warrant today for former Argentine judge Otilio Romano, who is wanted for "crimes against humanity" during Argentina's military dictatorship.
Romano, 68, appears on the website's list of most wanted criminals, reports Pagina/12.
Also on the list are international traffickers and terrorists, as well a son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Romano has been indicted as an accomplice to kidnapping, torture and disappearances during the military dictatorship of 1976 to 1983, reports EFE. At the time he was a prosecutor in the province of Mendoza.
Last August, when he was called to respond to the charges, Romano fled to Chile.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said last week the Argentine government would ask for his extradition.
