Andy Reid’s oldest son, Garrett, was found dead this morning inside his dorm room at Philadelphia Eagles training camp.

Lehigh University’s campus police found Garrett about 7:20 am after receiving a 9-1-1 call.

Police don’t suspect foul play.

“Garrett grew up with this team, which makes this news even tougher to process,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told reporters.

Garrett, 29, was working with the NFL team’s strength coaches, and was apparently trying to turn his life around after battles with addiction.

Both Garrett and his brother, Britt, spent time in jail.

In 2007, a judge sentenced Garrett to 23 months for a crashing a car while high on heroin; Britt received 22 months plus probation.

Garrett later spent two years in rehab after being caught with 89 prescription pills.

“He’s had a tough struggle,” former Eagles president Joe Banner told USA Today. “He seemed to be in a good place, which makes it all the more shocking.”

Andy Reid didn’t attend practice today.

In 2007, Garrett told police he got a thrill from dealing drugs in lower-income neighborhoods near his family’s sprawling home in Villanova.

“I liked being the rich kid in that area and having my own high-status life,” Reid said then, according to The Associated Press. “I could go anywhere in the `hood. They all knew who I was. I enjoyed it. I liked being a drug dealer.”
