Politico reported yesterday that Trebek had taped five episodes of the popular show in Washington and expressed a desire to moderate a presidential debate.

“I would love to be one of the questioners at a presidential debate. I think I would be able to bring a little bit of [an] everyman approach, and not the slightly more intellectual approach that some of the reporters bring to it,” Trebek was quoted as saying.

Politico produced this video report on the encounter with Trebek as well:

Trebek declined to reveal his political affiliation but expressed views that were fiscally conservative, according to Politico.

According to Mediaite, the Jeopardy! episodes taped this weekend will air during the week of May 14. High-profile media and Washington personalities were contestants, including MSNBC host Chris Matthews, CNN presenter Anderson Cooper, and former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, the website said.
