300 animals in home in Florida

A Florida couple had to call 9-1-1 after they lost their own baby. When police came to the couple's home, they found nearly 300 animals living there. The police seized the animals and charged couple Jeffrey O'Neil, 28, and Jennifer Kovacs, 26, with animal cruelty and child abuse, Fox Tampa Bay reported.

Luckily, the baby is okay. The couple thought that their 16-month-old crawled out of the crib by herself, but police found a note at the scene from a family member, who informed the suspects that they had taken the baby, Fox says.

The animals include snakes, rabbits, hedgehogs, dogs and rats, the Associated Press reported. Police suspect that the couple was keeping the animals to be bred and sold. It perhaps goes without saying that the couple did not have proper licensing to run an animal breeding business in their own home.
