Yemen bomb blast kills three soldiers in capital

A bomb blast in Yemen's capital Sanaa killed three soldiers and injured two more on Saturday, a security official said, according to Reuters.
The roadside bomb struck a car in Sanaa's al-Hasaba district near a police checkpoint after a policeman opened a suspicious bag, according to AlAlam news.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Yemeni government has been fighting for some time the Islamist insurgency of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a group the United States calls the most dangerous al Qaeda branch.
Yemen, the world's poorest Arab state, ousted its leader Ali Abdullah Saleh last year during the Arab Spring, installing an interim government that must now find a way to handle a difficult political transition as Yemen readies for its February 2014 elections.
