Swarovski crystals.
"Things Rich People Do" is a regular series where GlobalPost reports on how the global 1 percent lives. See the last installment: Things Rich People Do: Spend $214,000 on a pure gold shirt.
How many Swarovski crystals does it take to cover a Mercedes-Benz CLS sedan?
Exactly one million of them. We know this piece of trivia because a Russian woman has just paid about $33,000 to turn her luxury car into a disco mirror ball on wheels.
Here it is parked on a street in London.
The car literally lights up like a Christmas tree at night.
But why, why, why would anyone do that to an already fancy set of wheels? The owner, 21-year-old Daria Radionova explains.
''I wanted to have something unique and do something special," Radionova was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying.
“The people who did it came over from Russia and worked for 12 hours a day for two months on the car. I am really happy with it." So glad she's happy.
Radionova is reportedly studying business in London. But according to her Instagram account, she also runs a company that specializes in python and crocodile jackets and fur coats. A men's python jacket starts at around $2,500 so we're assuming they're the real deal.
We also assume business is booming. How else could a student afford this lifestyle?
