Study proves women really do like big penises

Scientists have finally taken a break from exploring Mars and curing diseases to take a look at one of life's most important questions – do women prefer larger penises?

The answer, apparently, is yes.

A new study published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concludes that women consider penis length to be just as important as height when rating attractiveness.

Researchers gave 105 heterosexual Australian women the task of rating computer-generated nude images of men based on three traits: height, shoulder-hip ratio and flaccid penis size.

It turns out that penis size (overall length and girth) was about as important as height in determining how the men scored on the sexual attractiveness scale.

"As you increase penis size, the amount of attractiveness scores gets bigger," in a linear fashion, explained lead researcher Brian Mautz.

The women ranked the men as more attractive based on the size of their member until 7.6 centimeters, or 3 inches.

After three inches, attractiveness still increased, but in smaller increments, Mautz said.

Mautz, who studies the biology of how we select a mate, said the findings suggested that ancient women considered a potential mate's penis size before choosing one.

Picking a well endowed male may have helped humans thrive as a species since humans today are much more well endowed than other male primates.

"It shows that females can exert a choice and influence genital evolution, which is a relatively understudied area," Mautz told The Canadian Press.

The study did not account for any non-physical traits such as kindness, sense of humor or the size of one's 401(k).
