Pepsi lost about four percent of the North American market last year.
The new design has a contoured bottom half that makes the plastic bottle easier to hold.
The label will also be shorter, exposing more of the soda.
Pepsi has made several moves to improve sales including sponsoring the Super Bowl halftime show and hiring pop star Beyonce as a spokesperson.
The new bottles will be used for regular Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max and Pepsi Next.
The new bottles are expected to fully replace the old ones within one or two years.
The last time a new bottle design was introduced was in 1996.
