Madonna dressed up like a boy scout and said that the scouts should "change their stupid rules" banning gays during a fiery speech at the annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York.
"I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn't let me join," Madonna joked while wearing the Cub Scout uniform.
"I think that's f–ked up. I can build a fire. I know how to pitch a tent. I have a very good sense of direction. I can rescue kittens from trees."
"I want to do good for the community," Madonna continued, according to E! News. "Most importantly I know how to scout for boys. So, I think I should be allowed to be a Boy Scout and they should change their stupid rules."
The 52-year-old pop star was presenting the Vito Russo Award, which honors openly gay media professionals who have made a difference in promoting equality, to CNN's Anderson Cooper, reports NBC.
In her 12-minute speech, the Material Girl addressed not only the Scout's ban on homosexual scouts and scout leaders, she also addressed school bullying, homophobia and inequality.
"I don't know about you, but I can't take this sh– anymore," she said, according to the NY Daily News.
"That is why I want to start a revolution. Are you with me? It's 2013, people. We live in America — land of the free, home of the brave — that's a question, not a statement."
