ZAHKO, Iraq — On Aug. 3, the Islamic State began a military push to take the Iraqi town of Sinjar and its surrounds. In village after village, men from Yazidi tribes were killed or captured, and women and children kidnapped.

On Aug. 11, fighters entered the village of Kocho. This is the story of what happened next.
