Iraq suicide attacks kill at least 8 in Turkmen protest

Two suicide bombers Tuesday struck an Iraqi Turkmen protest in the village of Tuz Khurmato, about 100 miles north of Baghdad, killing at least 8 people.
It's believed the ethnic minority group had staged the protest to demand better security conditions in the area, which is part of a disputed northern semi-autonomous region claimed by both Kurds and the Iraq government.
In January suicide bombers attacked the same village, killing at least 23 people when they struck a Shia mosque.
On Monday, car bombs all over Baghdad exploded and killed dozens of people, mainly in Shia-populated areas.
A recent surge of sectarian violence in Iraq killed more than 1,000 people in May. In fact, the month was the bloodiest since mass violence racked the country in 2006-07.
