‘The Great Gatsby:’ Jay-Z producing music for upcoming film (VIDEO)

The buzz around the upcoming film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s "The Great Gatsby" novel just got "more epic," according to BET.

Fans of the great American novel will be happy to hear Jay-Z is executive producing the entire soundtrack, and plans to put a modern spin on the 1920s "Jazz Age," the Los Angeles Times reported.

Warner Bros. confirmed Jay-Z’s involvement on Friday.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who will play protagonist Jay Gatsby, introduced the film’s director/producer Baz Luhrmann to Jay-Z, the LA Times said.

“As soon as I spoke with Baz and Leonardo, I knew this was the right project.” Jay-Z said in a statement.

The film is set to open the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in May.
