Germany’s biggest ever baby born at 13.47 pounds (VIDEO)
Two women in Sweden underwent a mother-to-daughter uterus transplant this past weekend. Doctors said they were in good condition, but the transplants would not be considered a complete success until they were able to become pregnant.
Germany's biggest baby ever, a girl named Jasleen, was born on Friday, weighing in at a whopping 13.47 pounds and measuring nearly 23 inches long.
According to a statement from University Hospital in Leipzig, Jasleen was born vaginally and not via C-section.
"We anticipated that the child would be big," said Holger Stepan, chief of obstetrics. "We prepared in advance by assembling a special team (of doctors and midwives) to be ready for any possible complications."
The girl's mother reportedly suffered from gestational diabetes, which can lead to babies born larger than normal if left untreated or uncontrolled.
She did not know of her condition until she checked herself into the hospital, where she had not previously been a patient, while in labor.

Both mother and child are well, although Jasleen is still in the hospital.
Until Jasleen's birth, the title of Germany's biggest baby was held by a boy named Jihad, who was born in November 2011 and weighed in at 13 pounds.
Earlier this year, an even heavier baby came into the world. George King was born to a British couple in March and weighed in at 15 pounds, 7 ounces. And yes, he was also delivered vaginally.
But the heaviest baby ever, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, weighed in at more than 23 pounds. He was born in Seville, Ohio, on January 19, 1879, and died 11 hours later.
