BRISBANE, Australia — She came, she conquered. Ellen DeGeneres need not have watched "Crocodile Dundee" to impress Australians with her preparedness for the big trip "upside-Down-Under."
Arriving in Sydney, she was mobbed by adoring fans at the airport, seemingly holding tightly to wife Portia de Rossi, who could be seen on TV footage smiling good-naturedly at her compatriots falling over themselves — literally.
One fan fainted and others jostled for a glimpse of the talk show host, waving placards, giant stuffed animals and inflatable Nemo balloons — a nod to DeGeneres' role in the animated film set largely in Sydney.
DeGeneres may have also had advice on how to cope with jetlag — don't go to sleep — wasting no time in taking off sightseeing around what is arguably Australia's most picturesque city.
Photos posted on the show's website and social media accounts showed the couple in front of the Sydney Opera House and DeGeneres looking at koalas and a giraffe at Sydney's Taronga Zoo.
They also went on a tour of Sydney Harbour in a vintage ferry, according to the Fairfax Media.
She tweeted:

DeGeneres will visit Sydney and Melbourne during her six-day trip to Australia, with segments being filmed for her show — which the Associated Press noted won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor last year, its 9th year.
