The Eiffel Tower, one of the world's top tourist attractions, was evacuated Sunday following an unspecified telephone threat.
There were reports that a bomb threat had been called in, but authorities in Paris would not confirm details to AFP.
The tower was evacuated at about 3 p.m. local time and had not reopened to tourists by 5:30 p.m., according to Reuters.
The evacuation comes after a similar threat on Aug. 9.
In June, the monument was closed for two hours after a man threatened to commit suicide.
The Eiffel Tower is the world's most visited monument. It attracts up to 32,000 tourists daily, according to AFP.
