Christopher Dorner $1 million reward split between three

The $1 million reward for the capture of former Los Angeles police officer turned killer Christopher Dorner will be shared among three parties.
In a statement from the LAPD posted online, it said a three-judge panel had awarded 80 percent of the money ($800,000) to Jim and Karen Reynolds, the couple who alerted police after being tied up by Dorner at their Big Bear cabin.
A ski resort employee Daniel McGowan, who found Dorner’s pickup truck on the side of a remote road, will get $150,000 and 5% was awarded to a tow truck driver who reported seeing the fugitive in a gas station..
Reuters reported the decision follows controversy over who deserved the reward. Twelve parties had applied for the winnings.
Dorner, 33, killed four people, including two police officers, during a vengeful rampage before he committed suicide during a stand-off with police on February 12, CBS reported.

The reward ruling was made public in a 12-page report released by the LAPD Wednesday, the LA Times reported.
It said Jim and Karen Reynolds' information to police had "directly led to the hot pursuit and capture of Dorner".
"Had Mr and Mrs Reynolds failed promptly to escape their restraints and contact law enforcement, it is likely Dorner would have escaped," an LAPD report said.
