#AFridayIn: The Port of Karachi

This past Friday, GlobalPost's Karachi Correspondent Mariya Karimjee gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the famed Port of Karachi and Kiamari District.

Mariya shared her remarkable breadth of Karachi knowledge — beginning with some Pakistani history lessons, and finishing up with some colorful images of tragically polluted waters, exotic fish from the Arabian Sea, and vibrant vessels tied up to the port's salty docks.

When all was said and done, Mariya gave GlobalPost readers and followers an honest, gritty look at Karachi's Kiamari District — we learned a little bit about the goings-on at one of South Asia's deepest and busiest ports, we learned a lot about Pakistan's colonial history, and for a few hours, we were digitally transported to a far-off land — a trip which gave us all a much needed reprieve from our otherwise banal Fridays at work.

If you missed it live, catch up with Mariya's trip in the tweets below. To see the rest of GlobalPost's adventures, check out our series page and follow along: @AFridayIn.
