By seeking Congressional approval, President Barack Obama has invited a national debate over American intervention in Syria.
The debate in Congress, which may culminate next week in up or down votes in the Senate and the House, has become a national conversation about the role the United States plays in the world. Additionally, the brutal, frustrating history of the Middle East has injected itself into every day American dialogue, as well as the question of who has the power to order the Pentagon onto the battlefield.
To get a sense of how Americans across the nation feel, The Takeaway welcomes three guests for a roundtable discussion. Joining the program is Ben Philpott, host of Agenda Texas for KUT in Austin; Craig Fahle, host of The Craig Fahle Show on WDET in Detroit; and Ben Allen, a reporter for KOSU Radio in Oklahoma City.
