Takeaway Host John Hockenberry visited the American Physical Society’s newest production–but it’s not what you would expect.
Nestled in a storefront in midtown Manhattan, the Intergalactic Travel Bureau looks like any other travel agency. Outside, the glass features printouts of the newest destinations. Inside, posters on the wall highlight dream vacations. A travel agent sits at a desk and asks questions to gauge what kind of trip you would enjoy the most.
However, there is a twist.
The destinations at this travel agency are different than what you might be used to. Instead of beach resorts and ancient cities, there are astrophysicists acting as travel agents who advise guests on which would be a better vacation–the far off rings of Saturn or the nearby moon.
Host John Hockenberry visited the Intergalactic Travel Bureau, where he met operator Olivia Koski and astrophysicists Dr. Reneé Hlozek and Dr. Jana Grcevich. They explain the different aspects of space tourism.
