Fighting the Real Threat of Killer Robots

The Takeaway

Killer robots have been at the center of campy horror movies and comedy routines for decades. But recently, killer robots, and the fight against them, have grown real.
Last month, the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots launched in London. And today, a report calling for a global moratorium on lethal autonomous robotics will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council.
Mark Bishop sits on the International Committee for Robot Arms Control, and participated in last month’s launch of the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots. He is a professor of cognitive computing at Goldsmiths, University of London, and chairs the Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behavior.
