The Takeaway

Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians are still in the streets to call for an end to the three-decade rule of President Hosni Mubarak. At issue for many protesters is the dire standard of living. Rana Foroohar, assistant managing editor at Time Magazine, looks at the effects this uprising will have on the U.S. and Egyptian economies.

Further south in Africa, 99.57 percent of eligible voters declared their support for a separated South Sudan. Official results come out later this week, and Takeaway producer  Noel King  looks what the response will be  from Northern Sudan.
