The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments in Ashcroft v. Iqbal. The court will consider whether Muslim men who were rounded up after the attacks of Sept. 11 may sue John Ashcroft, the former attorney general, and F.B.I. director Robert S. Mueller, because they were aware of and condoned the abusive treatment they were subjected to in prison.
