Rwanda implicates France in 1994 genocide

The World

The list of 33 officials accused includes former French President Miterrant and the former Prime Minister. The Rwandan Justice Minister says the French were involved in the genocide at a variety of levels. France’s role in the Rwandan genocide has long been controversial and this isn’t the first such allegation of involvement in the genocide. France supported Rwanda’s government at the time and its aid included the arming and training of Rwandan government troops. This report takes that further in alleging the French of helping the Hutu extremist militias involved in the genocide, and also claims French troops were actively involved. This French official says the claims are not true. Relations between France and Rwanda have been bad for a long time.
