A round-up of world literature

The World
The World

Famous Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman’s daughter has recently released a new novel. CM says at the heart of the novel is one crucial summer of the past: we’re seeing the exploration of life in the summer and everyone knows that something crucial is going to happen in that summer. (since Bergman’s daughter wrote some of this book in Bergman’s presence prior to his death, do you see any connection between the style of this book and Bergman’s films?) it has a leisurely pace, just as Bergman’s films. The way she treats characters at length is also something that her father does. There are no grand gestures though. (This is her fourth novel. What did you find most compelling about it?) It feels as if you have three daughters all on their way, trying to find each other. But in the end this is a novel about all our fathers.
