(So do you think Ian Fleming was writing about your father when he created James Bond?) I don’t think it was totally about my father, but I’ve read my father’s war records and he was a fearless fighter who would kill anyone when commanded. (Now your father was involved in parachuting, diving, blowing up safes) Yes, the first safe he had to blow up was in Normandy and he blew out the wall as well. (We should also say your father was able to ski backwards and undertook a daring rescue mission in Normandy). Yes, he rescued 5,000 people in arctic Norway and he knew some of the Norwegians would be killed if the Germans came back. he evacuated all these people and the only reason he didn’t get a courts martial for it was because the King of Norway presented him with a medal.
