Women have always been a part of hip hop culture – some of the best and most famous rappers of all time include Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim, and Salt N Pepa – but in recent years, fewer female MCs have made it to the big time. Well, that is, unless you want to count Fergie.
Sacha and Yo-Yo are doing something to reverse that trend. Sacha Jenkins is a member of Ego Trip, the hip-hop media collective, and a producer of VH1’s new reality contest Miss Rap Supreme. He’s joined by Yo-Yo, a veteran female rapper who serves as the co-host of the show along with MC Serch. Sacha Jenkins speaks with Faith Salie on Fair Game.
